The 10th Geothermal Congress for Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC) will take place in Cartagena, Colombia, on November 28-29, 2023.
The time is now for geothermal in Latin America and the Caribbean. Before decarbonization became a priority, before green hydrogen hit the headlines, before we understood the opportunity to power the mines and extract lithium from the brine, before new tech optimized the sector – before all of these things, the case for geothermal was robust. If that was true then, surely the development of geothermal is essential now. At GEOLAC 2023 we’ll fire up and explore every angle and every opportunity, both power-to-grid and P2X, at the only Congress devoted exclusively to powering and heating Latin America and the Caribbean with the abundant geothermal resources lying largely untapped across our region.
Co-hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), The World Bank and ESMAP, GEOLAC will gather the market to shake out the critical issues, work through the hurdles, and make a plan to scale up geothermal region-wide. If not now, when?
